Plug in and use! This is really an amazing camera for the price. We are first time webcam users and use it for Skyping. The only downside is the cord length for the microphone. There are two cords attached to the camera, one for the USB port and the other for the microphone. I have a laptop and the cord that plugs into the microphone is a little short and we have to stretch it under the laptop to make it reach which doesn't give us much room to move the camera around. This is a nice inexpensive web cam. It self configured on a Windows XP machine, and worked perfectly. The focus is manually set by rotating the ring that projects from the front of the lens. Skype recognized the web cam and it worked on the first try.

The only feature lacking from this web cam is a light to indicate the cam is operating. Due to the occasional news story about web cams occasionally being activated remotely, this is a concern. I put a hood over web cams when they are not in use.

All in all, this cam is a great value for the money. -- A nice inexpensive web cam.

I needed a camera so my kids could video chat with their grandparents on skype. This camera worked. It came with no drivers or manual but windows vista (I really don't like vista) recognized it. The skype program recognized it and it was installed in less than 2 minutes. The video quality was more than I expected for having paid $9. It is not professional but it works. The built in microphone also works - though a headset would be better.

I don't believe you actually get a 5 megapixel resolution out of it, but then I would never use that high of a resolution to go over a skype call anyway. -- works with skype - does the job

Okey first off, this is a ONE, yes i said it ONE peace plug for the video and the mic, those people who said the video is crappy, or the mic doesn't work, well the one i got does, and it really sensitive, i can talk on the other side of the room and my friends can hear me, and whats the greatest is that the video is beyond what i even expected, the people who say that the video is horrible isn't inclined to turn the lens on the webcam itself, like i said before the mic and the camera are together in one plug as a USB, and it hooked up to my XP computer just fine and it installed the components it self. The best 12 bucks i have ever spent, trust me, im a normal customer on amazon and i think that this was the best purchase i ever made, other than my Dell Axim X50v.

-Yes, the suction cup does work, it really does you just need a flat surface and to twist the main part of it and it will stick hard, if you dont twist the bace it will not stick, and if you have trouble with it on the table/desk then i got some packing tape, two peaces side by side and it stuck to the table.

I bought two of these, one for me and one to ship to my boyfriend who recently moved.

The plug-n-play works flawless and the picture quality is very good for the price.

The sound quality I haven't been able to test yet. I read the other reviews, so I knew that there would be separate cords for the USB (Camera) and a jack for the mic. However, the cord is "split" so if your USB connection and your Mic jack connection are on opposite sides of your laptop (Like mine)--you won't be able to plug both at the same time.

If you are looking for a camera for flexibility, this isn't the best one. The suction-cup bottom is hopeless, but it stands stable as long as the "neck" in at least 60% straight up, balancing the weight. The Mic doesn't seem to throw it off balance no matter which way it points.

SO-- If you sound and USB are with 4 inches of each other, you are working with a stable surface and you just want the best picture for little cash, this is the best value. Perfect for no-muss video chatting. -- Good Value--some things you should be aware of!
