User Reviews about Avaak Vue Personal Video Network

I have been watching this wireless system and many others for months now. Other systems you can purchase will connect to internet view sites for free. I have read that these cameras are difficult to setup and fail many times, especially during wireless mode. Most of these wireless cameras need a power supply. I decided on the Avaak Vue system because I did not want to run power supply wiring or cat5 wiring, just too difficult to the locations I wanted. I received the package, followed the easy setup and I had the cameras working in no time. First thing I did was register and set up the 2 cameras on [...]. This is a free site for 1 year and $19.99 for each additional year. That is not a problem for me. Next I dragged the cameras into the setting menu on the web site (just click the setting tab) and drag each camera and you can observe the camera battery level and easily upgrade to the latest firmware. (which I did). You should upgrade. My cameras are setup in a large den and the second camera looking down a hallway into my kitchen (total distance 60 feet) I was impressed with the quality of the video especially under low light. I can easily leave a low level energy saver light on a timer and see the length of my house down the hall through the kitchen. Next I tried to connect from work on the internet. No Problem. I could see my dog relaxing, my wife doing her thing at home etc....VERY COOL! I've only had this system for 3 day now and I'm impressed. You will need a security system with this video system. I will add a SKYLINK or SMARtHOME wireless security system to complete my order. Then my BW and I will be able to receive trouble calls from our security system and use the Avvak Vue system to view the house on a computer or Iphone. If this Avaak Vue camera continues to function this well I will add more cameras. I've own this for 1 week.

UPDATE July 2010:
I ordered another camera and will probably order more! I love this system! I can see these cameras anywhere I can connect to the internet. I looked in on my commuter train to work on a net book using 3g. I can move the cameras easily anywhere in my home, depending on what I want to monitor try that with a powered/ wired camera. My router is in my basement, where the Avaak vue base is connected. I took one camera and placed it in my back yard approx 100ft away from the base, which is again 1 floor down in the basement behind a sheetrock wall and I had a great connection. If you set the camera too far the webpage will tell you that the camera lost connection. Very cool. Avaak Vue gives you controls for brightness, recording , snapshot etc. I'm not interested in recording unless I peek in and see a problem. I just want to see the cameras when my wife and I need to check on our house when we are in the city. Check the negative reviews on this product and many of them have only given 1 review. So that tells me they are not regular Amazon customers. Bottom line is that this system is designed to work with a good security system, so you can look in to your home or office after you receive a security alarm. I tried to give everyone the demo site that Avaak vue gives you to review the camera video but amazon would not show it. Try http then demo then vuezone then com a dot between demo and com. It will show you the San Diego shore and street. Picture can be viewed 24hrs a day and can give you a good idea of the video quality. Enjoy!

-- The Truth about the Avaak Vue Camera system!
After purchasing this product (and subsequently two extra cameras), I came to the Amazon.com website to write an outstanding review. However, after reading other reviews, I can only bump up my review from "outstanding" to "outstanding plus".

The cameras do exactly what are proclaimed on the website. They allow you to look inside your house from virtually anywhere on Earth. How do I know this is true? Because I spent the last several months overseas with the US Military and "peeked" in on my dogs and family from time to time. The system does exactly what it is supposed to do... give you an eye inside your home or whereever you point the cameras.

My favorite part of the system is being able to do all of this from my iPhone. Not only is this extremely practical for viewing from abroad, it also makes good sense to hold the iPhone in your hand while you adjust the cameras.

I have a security system in place as well as the camera system. If the alarm goes off, it notifies me on my iPhone. I then switch over to MyVue and see what is happening inside. If I ever see someone ransacking my home, I will certainly dial 911 and give them an accurate description as to what is taking place inside. Heck, I can even give the Police my web login and let them look inside my home from their laptop computers or even their own iPhones! Talk about officer safety... By the way, my security company offers cameras and remote viewing also... for over 10 times the cost!

As far as technical prowess, I have none. However, I found the cameras EXTREMELY easy to set up and use. It took me longer to figure out where to place the cameras than it did to set them up.

I can highly recommed this system to anyone who needs to "check up on their home / office / etc" from time to time. The cameras work great, the battery life is excellent, and I was more than pleased not having to wire them into the house.

Outstanding product from an outstanding company! -- Let's not overthink this...
I have had a great time using this product. Especially with the iPhone App. When we go away I see my dogs running around the house, and I make sure that the housekeeper doesn't leave the front door open when she leaves. It's truly unique and wonderful! -- Wonderful product
I received this package directly from the company which offered Free Shipping but now it has been reduced on Amazon which makes it a better deal than what I paid.
The setup was easy and I was up and running within 10 minutes. They shipped me 4 lithium batteries when I was expecting 2...so that was an unexpected surprise! Considering that you are getting only 2 cameras it's not much to expect. They should give you at least 3 cameras or at best an incentive to purchase an additional 2 at a reduced rate. $100.00 a piece is a lot for these cameras....There's not much to them which is good and bad. The cameras are very small and unobtrusive....easy to mount. My router is located in my basement and the cameras are mounted in the upper portion of my house. No connectivity problems. Everything works as expected.
What I like best is the iPhone App which allows me to check in on my house while I am on the road...virtually from anywhere that my phone is receiving a data signal...I am using a 1st generation iPhone which makes the initial connection a bit sluggish...but I have just reserved the new iPhone and I am expecting better efficiency. The website was easy to navigate and register. My only complaints are the price of the cameras and the battery usage when engaging the system....it would have been nice to have at least a 3 camera out-of-box configuration. Otherwise a low cost system which will able you to "check-in" and monitor your home or apartment. -- Low Cost Monitoring Solution
